Adidas offered to pay half of his release clause in order to push through a move!
FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi was close to joining Premier League side Chelsea this summer, according to a Spanish newspaper.
Mundo Deportive have released an article claiming that sports brand, Adidas, offered to pay half of Messi's release clause in order to try and push through a move to Stamford Bridge.
The Argentine's clause stands at a whopping £210,000,000 and it would have left The Blues having to pay £105,000,000 for the best player in the world.
